I try to get out and experience this trail annually, but you likely need to wait until July to avoid snow and start early in the morning to avoid the heat. Take a lunch and plenty of pictures.


5. Indian Trail


One of my favorite hikes in the Ogden Area is the Indian Trail. Located at the top of

22nd street on the East side of Ogden or can be accessed in Ogden Canyon just west of the Alaskan Inn is a challenging hike that is 8.4 miles out and back or can be hiked from one end to the other if you want to take 2 cars. The views on this trail are magnificent and allow you to see the Great Salt Lake, Ogden canyon, Ogden City and the surrounding mountain sides.

There is a log cabin and tepee structures along the path. It is a challenging, but amazing hike.


The peaceful atmosphere allows for mindful walking, promoting not only physical fitness but also mental well-being. Many explorers appreciate how these tranquil settings reduce stress levels. Engaging with nature allows you to restore your focus and recharge for daily life.


Honorable mention: For those of you wanting a more beginner hike, the Bonneville Shoreline trail is a trail that goes from Pleasant view all the way to Weber Canyon. It can be hiked in sections and is relatively flat. Ogden River Parkway: a paved trail from the mouth of Ogden Canyon to the mouth of Weber Canyon. Lewis Peak Trail from North Ogden Divide.
